"Vympelcom" showed the greatest average speed of the mobile Internet in the central and southern regions of St. Petersburg. Took the second place MTS, in some areas it was bypassed by "MegaFon", data of the project 3GSpeed testify.

Research takes place in three stages. In March 3GSpeed published results of measurements in the southern part of the city, and on May 19 presented results of testing of cellular networks in the center. In total in the central regions more than 18 thousand measurements were made. Measurements were taken by means of 3G-modems "MegaFon" of Huawei E367, MTS of Huawei 420S, "Beeline" of Huawei E3131. For the first time the LTE modems of operators of the big three working in the mode "only 3G" participated in research: "MegaFon" of Huawei E392, MTS of Huawei E392, "Beeline" of ZTE MF 821D.

Following the results of testing in the central part of St. Petersburg leadership was kept by "Vympelcom" (a trademark – "Beeline") which earlier appeared the fastest operator in the south of the city.

"Beeline" significantly is ahead of competitors in the center of St. Petersburg that can speak the large investments of the operator into the Petersburg network made last year, and its low loading, – authors of the project emphasize. – "MegaFon", on the contrary, showed low speed, it is possible – because of a large number of the subscribers using the mobile Internet".

In the center the average speed of loading at "Vympelcom" made 7,9 Mbit / c, MTS has 5,7 Mbit / c, at "MegaFon" – 3,4 Mbps. In the sum with the southern areas "Vympelcom" showed an indicator in 5,5 Mbps, MTS – in 3,7 Mbps, "MegaFon" – in 2,8 Mbps. The highest average value – at "Vympelcom" in Vasileostrovsky district (9,9 Mbps), the lowest – at MTS in Petrodvorets (1,9 Mbit / c).

In all studied areas the palm is kept surely by "Vympelcom". The second place in Vasileostrovsky, Petrograd, Krasnogvardeysky, Central, Admiralty and Kirovsk areas occupied MTS, and in Frunze, Moscow and Petrodvorets – "MegaFon". In Pushkin district operators showed equal indicators.

3GSpeed plans to finish research at the end of May then will publish a full interactive map of speeds of the mobile Internet of 2014.

"We are not familiar with algorithm of research, however we can note that according to our MQA project (Mobile Quality Analyzer), and also measurements of the third-party companies "Beeline" is in the lead on the speed of the mobile Internet in St. Petersburg not only in the central part, but also in other areas", – the press secretary of JSC Vympelcom Anna Aybasheva makes comments. According to her, in 2013 the company made record investments into modernization of a network 3G in St. Petersburg and continues work in the current year.

"Methodology of any researches which are created first of all for the publication of results, do not maintain any criticism and their results completely depend on customers, – the head to the direction on interaction from mass media of JSC MTS Dmitry Solodovnikov is categorical. – The only purpose of carrying out these measurements – manipulation with public opinion, they do not give real information on speeds of the mobile Internet or quality of a voice communication".

In his opinion, operators are directly interested in communication improvement of quality, after all subscribers estimate a communication quality independently, without relying on "independent measurements".

Any measurements can be useful from the point of view of obtaining information, the press secretary of JSC "Megafon" Olesya Yaremenko objects. "But it is necessary to take into account that any measurements of quality of package service are rather subjective and points of carrying out testing and the used technique depend on features of terminals, – she reminds. – At change of any of conditions distribution between operators will differ".

For 2013 the number of subscribers and a traffic of data transmission in a 4G-network of Northwest branch of the "Megafon" company grew by 5 times, and in the I quarter 2014 in comparison with the I quarter 2013 the number of users 4G was already in 11 times more, Yaremenko emphasizes.

Most of people interests a high-quality communication in two places – houses and at work, earlier conducting analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin noted. "Work of the operator with specific subscribers is an improvement of communication in points necessary to them", – the expert explained.

Measurements of communication in casual places poorly meet needs of users, besides the communication quality depends on many parameters: load of a network, weather, carrying out installation works. "Such researches are curious, but except curiosity they give nothing", – Murtazin is categorical. "Independent and more exact mold" it called data of the project "Yandex. Cards", but emphasized that it too only "a certain approach".
