The Volga region network of "MegaFon" is adjusted to save a charge of batteries in 4G-smartphones and tablets

"MegaFon" introduced on a network 4G in the Volga region the functionality allowing to save a charge of the accumulator which the 4G-device spends for the mobile Internet


"MegaFon" in regions of the Volga region adjusted a network of the fourth generation (4G) on a regime of economy of a charge of the accumulator which the 4G-device spends for the mobile Internet.

After a network of the third generation (3G) "MegaFon" applied new settings in a network 4G which subscribers of the company use for high-speed Internet access. Settings save to 56% of a charge of the battery which the subscriber's station spends for work in a network, in particular on mobile data transmission. Improvements concern all devices with support of technology 4G (LTE) having accumulators – smartphones, tablets and some routers.

"At the included data transmission modern smartphones and tablets show high independent activity in a network, supporting work of messengers, updating information from social networks, mail, weather, news, actions. Our experts analysed this activity and adjusted a network 4G so that the device in it after the end of transfer of useful information passed into a waiting mode when the expense of the battery is minimum quicker. Thus quality of the high-speed mobile Internet 4G from "MegaFon" remains at high level", – the director of infrastructure of Volga region branch of the "Megafon" company Evgeny Kiselyov makes comments.

For example, earlier after opening of a page the 4G-device actively held a radio channel of 20 more seconds in the Internet. Settings reduced this period till 6 seconds. The user continues to read a page, and the difference in 14 seconds allows to save a battery charge which is not spent for a radio exchange with a base station.

Certainly, settings of the operator cannot affect the volume of the charge spent for automatic synchronization of large volume of data, and also for maintenance of work of a powerful platform, screen brightness, a waiting mode, data transmission through Wi-Fi and other activities of devices out of a mobile network. The effect of settings is visible when using the mobile Internet in a network 4G of "MegaFon". For example, in a sheaf "router smartphone" when the smartphone is connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi, the charge saves the router contacting to a mobile network of the operator.
