MTS prepares a network in the Irkutsk region for start of LTE

The MTS company realizes the next stage of complex modernization of a network in the Irkutsk region


The telecommunication operator reported "Mobile TeleSystems" (MTS) about realization of the next stage of complex modernization of a network in the Irkutsk region. Accumulation of power happens in anticipation of start of LTE and the accompanying increase in a traffic in a network of MTS, is told in the statement of MTS which came to edition of CNews.

In the conditions of actively growing consumption of an Internet traffic and during systematic work on preparation of infrastructure of communication for start of the LTE MTS network increases the capacity of fiber-optical communication lines. So, since the beginning of 2014 of MTS conducts construction of optical transport knots on the modern DWDM technology that will allow to increase the capacity of the high-level network in the region to 100 Gbit / page. In the conditions of growth of a traffic such construction allows to increase also the average speed of the mobile and fixed Internet for end users, declared in the company.

Besides, in 2014 MTS established new GPRS knot thanks to what the capacity of a network increased more than twice. It allows the operator to provide steadily high speeds in the conditions of growth of consumption of an Internet traffic and increase in number of subscribers at networks.

"MTS pays special attention to questions of development and modernization of a network. For us it is extremely important to meet expectations of subscribers and to provide modern and qualitative a telecom services. For this purpose we conduct continuous work on expansion of a covering of a network and improvement of its qualitative parameters. And we see result: inhabitants of Irkutsk began to use everything more actively services of the mobile Internet on tablets and smartphones. Only in two last years the volume of the downloaded traffic in a network of MTS increased three times, – the director of MTS in the Irkutsk region Andrey Bereznoy told. – Grows not only the traffic, but also penetration – already now more than 40% of subscribers use services of data transmission from MTS. Potential of a network 3G is not settled up to the end yet, however users are ready to consume even more traffic therefore in 2014 we plan start of own LTE network".

Also by the end of 2013 base stations 3G of MTS in the Irkutsk region were completely transferred to IP technologies by means of the organization of radio relay channels on the basis of IP and connection to optical communication lines. Capacitor characteristics of a network were as a result optimized and stabler functioning in the conditions of constantly growing data transmission volumes is ensured, noted in MTS.
