The Voronezh branch of JSC "Vympelcom" brought into commercial operation the Dual Carrier-HSDPA technology on a 3G-network in the Voronezh region


The Voronezh branch of JSC "Vympelcom" brought into commercial operation the Dual Carrier-HSDPA technology (DC-HSDPA) on a 3G-network in the Voronezh region.

Introduction of DC-HSDPA is carried out within the program of modernization of a network in Voronezh and area. For 2013 large-scale work on the transfer of the base stations operating 3G to high-speed IP technologies was conducted. Today practically at 100% of base stations in the Voronezh region the HSPA+ technology is activated.

Start of the advanced DC-HSDPA technology will increase quality of network functioning of all city. The new technology supports the greatest possible speeds of the mobile Internet to 42 Mbps that is comparable to speeds of 4G networks.

"We start the DC-HSDPA technology in the central part of the city. The similar step is connected with the greatest load of base stations in this area. Until the end of May it is planned to start the equipment supporting this technology and in other districts of the city and area", – the technical director of the Voronezh branch of JSC "Vympelcom" Victor Blyakherov explained.

The new DC-HSDPA technology is supported by more than 200 models of the main mobile devices from the leading producers, such as Apple iPad new, Apple iPhone 5 and all subsequent models, HTC One SV, Huawei S10 (MediaPad 10 FHD), Nokia 820 Lumia, Nokia 920 Lumia, Samsung GT-I9500 (Galaxy S4), Samsung GT-P7300 (Galaxy Tab 8.9).
