According to J'son & Partners Consulting agency, the number of users of mobile television in Russia came nearer to 3 million people. The company understands the service giving opportunity to owners of cell phones or tablets to watch TV programs offered by mobile operators online as mobile television.

The Russian market of mobile television started developing a little later, than the European or Asian markets. In 2009 in the Russian market at the same time in the test mode were submitted projects of mobile television with use of the DVB-H technology "Vympelcom" and Yota. However they were not really successful. Besides, there were difficulties with obtaining allowing documents for input of service in commercial operation. Thus active development in the Russian market was gained by online television which by the end of 2011 already was represented by the largest mobile operators.

According to forecasts of analysts, by 2016 the subscriber base of mobile television in Russia can double and reach nearly 6 million people that 4% of all subscribers of cellular communication are approximately equal. The average annual gain in 2011-2015 estimates agency at 37%.

Experts of J'son & Partners Consulting consider that already now it is possible to consider mobile television as a separate perspective segment of the market of television in general. The volume of this market in Russia in terms of money, according to J’son & Partners, in 2012 exceeded 6 billion rubles. And following the results of 2014 can grow and to 16 billion rubles. Let's note that average annual growth rate of the market in terms of money exceeds growth of number of subscribers and averages 63%.

Proves such forecasts of J'son & Partners, first of all, a demand of mobile translation of sports events the rights on which are got by operators of "the big three", and also an exit of mobile television from category of bonus services by experience of development of the market of Western Europe.

"MegaFon" has at the moment about 40 thousand active users of mobile television. The operator sees prospects for growth of mobile television, reported in the company. "Video content makes more than a half of all traffic on a network that speaks about interest of users. Also we saw interest growth during the Olympic Games and matches of the World Ice Hockey Championship when in certain days we had more than 70 thousand simultaneous viewings of translations", – explained in the press service of the operator.

"Vympelcom" has more in "three" of subscribers of mobile television – about 300 thousand paid users across Russia. Some more tens of thousands of subscribers watch only free TV channels without registration, reported in the press service of the company.

Besides, the operator in April of last year presented mobile version "Beeline" of TV. This OTT-application is available to subscribers of digital television and the fixed Internet. At the moment more than 150 thousand subscribers across all Russia use the appendix.

MTS does not sound number of subscribers of mobile television, however in the company say that viewing of stream video – one of the services which are most demanded today on the basis of data transmission networks.

"We see in it high potential for growth. In the first quarter 2014 the number of users of the option "MTS Tablet" increased more than twice – growth rate of connections four times advances rates of sales of tablets in Russia and says that start using the mobile Internet from MTS not only owners of new tablets, but also those who got the device earlier. It is more than a half of the Russians who connected the option "MTS Tablet" actively watch mobile TV and use services of video on demand, looking through through a special application movies, animated films, programs and TV series", – noted in the company.
