The CBS company modernized a wireless network of the Russian media holding News Media


The CBS company realized the project on modernization of a wireless network of the Russian media holding News Media.

At the time of the beginning of the project the network at the office of News Media media holding located in Moscow in Bumazhny Drive worked unstably that negatively influenced business processes. Therefore the management of IT department News Media asked for the help experts of CBS who should reveal and eliminate the reasons of incorrect work of a wireless network.

Engineers of CBS carried out radio inspection at office of the customer therefore it was succeeded to find out the reasons of unstable network functioning:

a large number of the employees who are settling down in one open space used more than 300 Bluetooth-devices (keyboards, mice, etc.);
all points of access located at office worked at one channel, creating mutual hindrances.


According to results of radio inspection specialists of the CBS company developed the project on creation of a wireless network, planned installation sites of points of access and picked up the most optimum equipment – the Cisco WLC 5500 and 13 controler of points of access of Cisco 2602i.

After installation of the equipment engineers of the CBS company started its control. In particular, work of points of access on the Clean Air technology which is able to find and distinguish interference sources was adjusted (Bluetooth, microwave ovens, surveillance cameras and so forth). At detection of hindrances the system automatically changes the channel that allows to restore network functioning quickly.

Besides, as access points 2602i can work in two ranges, the part from them was adjusted in the range of 5 GHz. Thus, load of the range of 2,4 GHz decreased.

Work of the built-in means on monitoring of foreign points of access and devices that will help to optimize network functioning in the future was also adjusted.

In summary it was recommended to employees of News Media to replace whenever possible wireless mice and keyboards on wire to exclude possibility of hindrances.

Thanks to specialists of the CBS company at office of News Media the steady wireless network earned. It became the irreplaceable instrument of performance of various tasks, allowing employees of News Media to remain always in the center of events.
