Start of the navigation Glonass-M spacecraft is planned for June 14.

The navigation Glonass-M spacecraft No. 55 created by the Information Satellite Systems company of a name of the academician M.F.Reshetnev" is delivered to the Plesetsk spaceport.

Delivery of the satellite took place in the regular mode. Now at the Plesetsk spaceport works on preparation of the spacecraft for start began.

The KA of "Glonass-M" No. 55 is equipped with the experimental equipment radiating a navigation signal in the range of frequencies of L3. The experiment purpose – flight qualification of this equipment and an assessment of precision characteristics of navigation providing. Use of the third range of frequencies along with ranges of L1 and L2 as a part of the GLONASS satellites is directed on increase of competitiveness of system in general.

Start of KA of "Glonass-M" No. 55 will be carried out by the carrier rocket "Union-2.1б" with the accelerating Frigate block and planned for June 14. It is the second starting campaign in interests of development of GLONASS system in the current year. Besides, until the end of 2014 for orbital group of Global navigation satellite system it is planned to carry out start of the block from three Glonass-M spacecrafts.
