"MegaFon" and Yota to two times increase the average speed of access to networks 4G+
JSC "Megafon" and JSC Skartel modernized the LTE network in Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk and Tomsk


JSC "Megafon" and JSC Skartel, the operator of the Yota network, increased the capacity of base stations of the fourth generation (4G+) to 220 Mbps. As a result of start in operation of the second bearing frequency the average speed of work of the mobile Internet for subscribers will be able to increase to two times.

Modernization was carried out in Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk and Tomsk where the integrated operator provides services of the mobile Internet in technology 4G+/LTE. Technical specialists carried out activation of the second bearing frequency of 15 MHz at the expense of what the general capacity of each sector of a base station 4G+ increased with 110 to 220 Mbps. Such decision allows the equipment of the operator to distribute intellectually subscribers between the bearing frequencies depending on load of a radio resource. As a result average speeds in the network 4G+ available to subscribers of "MegaFon" and Yota, become up to two times higher.

"Now "MegaFon" has at the order 4 times more than LTE frequencies in the range of 2,6 GHz, than any other communications operator. From now on we use the advantage of a superwide range of frequencies (40 MHz) to gradual improvement of consumer properties of a network 4G+ and we offer our users the product surpassing in the speed of the offer of other companies", – the director of the Siberian branch of JSC "Megafon" Alexey Tyutin commented.

Start of the second bearing frequency 4G+ will not demand replacement or change-over of the user devices. Improvement will automatically affect all subscribers of "MegaFon" and Yota using 4G-modems, routers, smartphones or tablets regardless of time of their acquisition.
