MTS invests 1,5 billion rubles in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug


The Mobile TeleSystems company and the government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area signed the agreement on strategic partnership

The Mobile TeleSystems company (MTS) and the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (KMAA) – Yugra signed the agreement on strategic partnership. MTS plans to invest in expansion and modernization of networks of a mobile  and fixed telephony in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra in 2014-2015 about 1,5 billion rubles.
The press service of the operator reported that the agreement provides cooperation  in a number of the directions, including, joint projects on development of telecommunication  infrastructure of the region, introduction of innovations and implementation of social  projects in the territory of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. Within investment  activity in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra MTS intends to develop and modernize  networks of the third generation and a network of a fixed telephony in the territory of the district, to continue construction of own fiber-optical communication lines and in addition to increase  their extent by 200 km, and also to start in the region the LTE network until the end of 2014.
"In our next plans – to finish modernization of the operating network 3G that will allow to improve quality of services, to expand geography of presence in the region, and also to prepare resources for start 4G in the district. It is sure, signing  of the agreement with the government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area will promote achievement of our common goals – to improvement of quality of life and availability of the mobile and wire Internet to the population, reduction  of a digital inequality and active development of telecommunication infrastructure  of the region in general", – the director "MTS the Urals" Sergey Kuzmin declared.
Within the agreement of MTS also plans to develop a network in economically significant  and remote areas, providing with modern mobile services  settlements in which before them was not, in particular, in a number of settlements of the Kondinsky  area, on mineral deposits. As a result of investments  into development the speed of the mobile Internet of MTS in a network of the third generation will grow  to 42 Mbps due to introduction of the second and third bearing frequencies. Implementation  of the project on construction and modernization of a network of a fixed telephony will allow to provide in addition with communication services of MTS on the FTTB technology ("optics to the house"), including broadband Internet access and digital television, inhabitants more than 50 thousand houses in Surgut, Nefteyugansk and Pyt-Yakh.
According to the company, mobile communication of MTS is available 96% of inhabitants of the region,  more than 95% of the population can use  services  of the third generation of MTS. The network 3G provided all cities, and also many small settlements of Berezovsky, Beloyarsk, October, Soviet and other areas of the district. Besides, all base  stations 3G of MTS to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug are transferred to modern IP technologies that allows  to increase the network capacity, capacity of each station by two-three times and to provide  better voice services even in the period of peak loadings.
Services of a fixed telephony of MTS are presented in the majority of the cities of the district, including in Surgut, Nefteyugansk, Poykovsky, Pyt-Yakh, Nizhnevartovsk, Iridescent, Nyagan, Beloyarsk, Uraye. In the region services of the house Internet at a speed up to 100 Mbps and a digital cable television are available to subscribers of MTS. In 2014 viewing opportunity more than 150 digital TV channels is given  to inhabitants of Surgut, Nefteyugansk and Pyt-Yakh.
