Sales of smartphones in the Russian market continue to grow. So, for the I quarter of this year the sales volume of smartphones in the market of Russia in comparison with the similar period of 2013 made 5,3 million devices, having increased by 65%.

About it it is told in the research of the Russian market of smartphones presented on May 26 J’son & Partners Consulting. For last quarter this year the share of smartphones in the total amount of the Russian market of mobile devices reached 57%.

"One of the main limiting factors of growth of the Russian market of smartphones, in our opinion, the high cost of devices in Russia is. But by the beginning of 2014 influence of this factor decreased, – is told in the message of J'son & Partners Consulting. – So, following the results of the I quarter 2014, by estimates of J'son & Partners Consulting, the average cost of the smartphone in Russia decreased to 258 dollars".

According to J’son & Partners Consulting, last quarter 2014 about 84% of all smartphones sold in Russia work at Android OS. "By the beginning of year from sales actually smartphones under control of Bada and Symbian completely disappeared, thus, the Russian market of smartphones is now completely divided between Android, iOS and Windows Phone", – it is specified in the message of J'son & Partners Consulting.

According to the retailer "Euroset" for the I quarter 2014 the share of smartphones on Android OS in the Russian market made 80%, iOS – 10%, Windows Phone – only 5%.

"The share of devices on Android OS in the next some years can decrease a little. More available smartphones on Windows OS and strengthening of positions of Apple which is observed in recent months" can become the reason for that, – the representative of "M.Video" in turn told the reporter of ComNews.

Analysts of J'son & Partners Consulting also note for growth of a share of sales of the Chinese producers specializing on the budgetary smartphones (27% from the general sales of smartphones in Russia). Besides, in comparison with the similar period of 2013 the percent of sales of smartphones of the lower price level (increased to 100 dollars) and the branded devices for 22% and 90% respectively.

Also in J’son & Partners Consulting note growth of sales of smartphones with support of LTE (the share of such devices in the general sales of smartphones in Russia made about 15%) and decrease in their average cost.

According to the representative of the retailer "Coherent", for the first three months of the current year in Russia 750 thousand "clever" phones with support 4G for the sum about 16 billion rubles were sold. Growth made 180% and 99% respectively. The share of such devices in the general sales of smartphones in pieces increased almost twice in comparison with the similar period. In terms of money the share of the smartphones supporting 4G grew in a year on the 13th percentage point, to 36%.

"However it is more important to note one more figure. Following the results of the I quarter 2014 the record is established: now 95% of all realized LTE smartphones can work in the Russian 4G-frequencies. Following the results of the I quarter 2013, only 23% of 4G-smartphones sold in Russia supported work in networks of new generation. Let's remind that following the results of 2013 in general the share of such devices made 63%", – the representative "Coherent" emphasized in conversation with ComNews.

Also for the first three months of this year of sale of smartphones which can work in the Russian LTE networks, grew by 1040%, to 712 thousand pieces, and for 913%, to 15,2 billion rubles, in comparison with the similar period of 2013, he added.

According to forecasts of J'son & Partners Consulting, by 2018 the total volume of the Russian market of smartphones will reach 39,9 million devices. The share of smartphones in sales of all mobile devices will increase to 92%.

"Growth of the market will be provided with replacement of ordinary mobile phones with "clever" devices, and sales of separate categories of "clever" phones become other important driver of growth.
