Sales of cheap tablets in the Urals grew by eight times

Retail network MTS (JSC Russian Telephone Company) reports about growth of popularity of the budgetary models of tablet computers in the Urals. In the first quarter 2014 of sale of tablets worth up to 5000 rubles in the Ural retail network MTS increased by eight times of rather similar period of 2013.

Average market price of the tablet sold in the Ural retail of MTS in a year fell by 35% and made 7779 rubles, having reached a historical minimum. Thus almost every second tablet computer realized in the Urals in MTS salons in the first quarter 2014 is the share of price category to 5000 rubles. Growth of sales of the budgetary devices first of all is connected with increase of interest of users to the mobile Internet and expansion of a line of inexpensive gadgets. So, a rating of the most sold tablets in the first quarter 2014 the budgetary Digma Optima 7.0 model headed, also the three of leaders included gadgets of Bliss Pad R9733, Irbis TX72.

The tendency of growth of popularity of inexpensive devices also is shown in the market of smartphones. Sales of "clever" phones in price category for the last year increased to 5000 rubles in retail network MTS in the Urals by 3,5 times. The average price of the smartphone for the similar period fell for a quarter and made 6422 rubles. Operator offers became drivers of growth of sales of "clever" phones in MTS salons – a rating of the smartphones which are most demanded in the Urals headed MTS 970, MTS 975, MTS 972.

Due to increase of availability of smartphones, consumers even more often refuse ordinary phones in favor of modern gadgets. Today more than every second visitor of retail of MTS in the Urals at a choice of phone prefers the smartphone. Thus the highest penetration of modern gadgets is recorded in Perm edge and the Kurgan region. In these regions smartphones made more than 70% in a total amount of sales of phones in pieces for the first quarter 2014.

The most popular operating system of mobile gadgets there is Android OS which occupies at the moment 77% of total number of the sold smartphones and tablets in the Ural retail of MTS.

Every year for inhabitants of the region the increasing value has functionality of phone and opportunity to use all advantages of modern technologies: to read mail, to listen to music and to look through video, to share news on social networks. Emergence in the market of inexpensive smartphones and tablets allows to make online services available available to wide audience and to involve new users in space of the mobile Internet. At the moment more than 85% of mobile devices in a network of MTS in the Urals support data transmission function, and their penetration continues to grow actively, including, at the expense of operator smartphones and tablets", – the director "MTS the Urals" Sergey Kuzmin noted.
