JSC Rostelecom realizes the project on the organization of a virtual private network for United Metallurgical Company


JSC Rostelecom realizes the project on the organization of a virtual private network (VPN, Virtual Private Network) for the United Metallurgical Company (UMC).

VPN channels with a capacity up to 100 Mbps will unite territorially remote objects of OMK in a common information space with the central point in Vyksa of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The geography of coverage of VPN includes Perm Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, and also the Nizhny Novgorod and Chelyabinsk areas. For implementation of so large-scale project technical specialists of JSC Rostelecom from the Nizhny Novgorod branch and macroregional branches "Centre" and "Ural" are involved.

Now points in Moscow, Vladimir, Chelyabinsk, Almetyevsk and Blagoveshchensk are united in a VPN network. By the time of end of the project (the second quarter 2014) some more points in other regions will be connected to VPN.

The corporate network of data transmission will allow to cut down significantly the customer's expenses on communication services, to guarantee reliability and safety of storage, processing and information transfer, and also to optimize business processes. Besides, the client will have an opportunity to use additional services on the basis of VPN: video conferencing, corporate telephony, system of electronic document flow.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Region the VPN networks from "Rostelecom" are created for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, customs, Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, management on hydrometeorology and monitoring of environment, and also banks, commercial organizations and medical institutions.

"Rostelecom" will organize VPN for the clients on the basis of own network of package switching (IP/MPLS) with a capacity about 2 of Tbit / page. High parameters of reliability and availability of a network are provided due to reservation and optimization of transport streams and guaranteed by the Agreement on level of service (SLA). Besides, "Rostelecom" has the certificate of conformity of a network of package switching to requirements of information security of Federal service for technical and export control (FSTEK of the Russian Federation).
