Huawei acquired right to contract with "Rostelecom" for construction of PVOLS Sakhalin – Magadan – Kamchatka
"Rostelecom" chose the Huawei company as the supplier of the equipment for construction of underwater VOLS Sakhalin – Magadan – Kamchatka


"Rostelecom" summed up the results of an open request for proposals on a choice of the producer of the equipment and service provider within the construction project of the underwater fiber-optical communication line (PVOLS) Sakhalin – Magadan – Kamchatka.

On completeness of compliance of technical offers to requirements of "Rostelecom" the JSC Huawei Technical Company firm which acquires right to contract for supply of equipment, the service equipment and materials, and also performance of work and rendering services is recognized as the winner.

According to the project construction of PVOLS with a general extent about 1855 km and four optical fibers with a capacity of cable system, and also implementation of all necessary list of works on underwater and land part is necessary. The maximum capacity of PVOLS will make 8 Tbit / page.

The cost of works and services in creation of PVOLS will make about 3 billion rubles (with the VAT). In 2014 it is planned to start a preparatory work, to make a cable and the equipment. In 2015 PVOLS will be technically ready. Delivery of object in operation – June, 2016.

The fiber-optical cable will be laid on a bottom of the Sea of Okhotsk that will allow to reduce four times a way to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in comparison with a land route which passes across deserted lands in a zone of permafrost and the most difficult climatic conditions. All this will make possible in shortest possible time to begin rendering of services of communication and considerably to increase number of inhabitants of the Far East Russia who will be able to use them.
