"Rostelecom" begins introduction of the perspective technological directions

"Rostelecom" began work on introduction of the program defined networks and virtualization of network functions


"Rostelecom" began work on introduction of the perspective technological directions "The program defined networks" (SDN) and "virtualization of network functions" (NFV). Further division of technological decisions into independent program and hardware subsystems will allow to lower operational and capital expenditure, to accelerate introduction of new services, to expand technological capabilities of the operator. Essential decrease in a total cost of possession of network infrastructure is expected.

"Rostelecom" and intends to strengthen from now on technological leadership, – the senior vice-president for operation of communication networks of "Rostelecom" Alexander Tseitlin speaks. – New technologies will allow to simplify network infrastructure and to reduce the cost of operation of a network".

"I consider that the SDN and NFV technologies will allow to reduce significantly capital expenditure and to accelerate input in a system of new services", – the executive director on technical strategy and architecture of "Rostelecom" Eduard Vasilenko added.

New technological approaches allow to simplify for producers (including domestic) an entry into the telecommunication market as complexity of development decreases (it is necessary only program or hardware) and requirements to the size of investments decrease.

"Rostelecom" invites to cooperation of producers of SDN and NFV of decisions with high degree of readiness of a product. Decisions will be attentively considered also ottestirovana in the R&D Center of "Rostelecom".

"Rostelecom" is ready to consider the new technological directions within the current projects. Especially actually decisions on the translation of intensive program services (the virtual subscriber equipment, translation of addresses, the firewall and others) on standard hardware platforms as for such applications the greatest economic efficiency and essential decrease in a total cost of possession is expected.
