Frost & Sullivan: the Russian market of electronic components – a prospection
According to data of the Frost & Sullivan company, the volume of the Russian market of electronic components in 2013 made 2,7 bln. dollars.
The domestic market of the electronic components (EC) historically developed with active support of public sector, providing needs of the defensive industry. Today the largest consumer in the market still remains aviation and military industrial complex. Over the last 10 years, the Russian EK market grew four times – from 624 mln. dollars of the USA in 2002 to 2522 mln. dollars in 2012 that there correspond 15% to rate of an annual gain.
Here any more the first year of Frost & Sullivan is engaged in studying of the market of microelectronics in Russia, once again leading experts of the company shared the knowledge of the market within the branch action of SEMICON Russia 2014, largest in Russia. This year Frost & Sullivan acted as the partner of "Conference on microelectronics" which is traditionally held a day before officially opening of an exhibition.
"It is especially pleasant to us to participate in SEMICON Russia, for us it is opportunity to share the knowledge of the industry and to hear a response of representatives of the industrial enterprises, research institutes, business and public sector", – Alexey Volostnov, the director of business development in Russia notices Frost & Sullivan.

The largest segment of the EK market in Russia there are integrated chips among which the greatest share is occupied by the radio-frequency (RFID) tags applied on transport further the components of SIM cards for mobile communication and IS used in identification documents of citizens follow (passports of a new sample, Universal Electronic Cards). The second for the importance is the segment of analog and digital-to-analog components. Further the segment of microcontrollers and microprocessors follows.
The latest events on the world scene, in particular in Ukraine, can have a certain impact on development of domestic electronic branch. Today the largest consumer in the EK market is military industrial complex (about 35% of a common market). There is a potential threat of turning of cooperation in a number of the directions of researches where a key factor is presence of the western experts and technologies. On the other hand, current situation can become additional strong incentive for development of own research projects and productions in key market segments on all chain of value creation, beginning from materials and finishing with modules and finished goods.
Undoubtedly, for creation of the competitive market of the microelectronic industry in Russia it is necessary to develop and introduce a complex of the effective measures directed on maintenance and further development of cooperation between the state and the private sector. The most important questions which should be solved are: expansion of scopes of domestic component base, further diversification of the market, introduction of the last technological practices in production.
