The MTS company in the first quarter 2014 increased sales of tablets in regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia more than by 2,5 times in comparison with the similar period of 2013


Retail network MTS (JSC RTK, 100% JSC Mobile TeleSystems subsidiary) declares growth of sales of tablets in regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia in the first quarter 2014 more than by 2,5 times in comparison with the similar period in 2013.

The budgetary segment – from 1,5 to 5 thousand rubles became the most fast-growing. Sales in this segment on regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia in a year grew seven times. In Yakutia where a year ago this indicator was the lowest among all regions, in the first quarter 2014 the number of the tablets bought by inhabitants of Yakutia in the smallest price category increased by 13 times. Average cost sold in Retail network MTS in regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia of tablets made 8 045 rubles.

Inhabitants of Buryatia where sales level for the last year grew four times became the most active in purchase of tablets among all in price segments, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) 3 times more tablets in comparison with the first quarter 2013 were sold, and in Khabarovsk Krai for the similar period the market of tablets grew by 2,8 times.

The sales volume of smartphones in retail network MTS in the Far East and in Eastern Siberia in the first quarter 2014 grew by 80% in piece expression. The average cost of the sold smartphones made 6794 rubles that is 22% less, than the average price of the smartphone over the country which is equal to 8690 rubles.

"The tendency to change of the user preferences from ordinary phones towards smartphones and tablets becomes today more and more expressed. Following the results of the first quarter 2014 the share of sales of "clever phones" in total amount of the gadgets realized in retail of MTS in the east of Russia already reaches a point of 63% and, according to our forecasts, will continue to grow further. Increase in demand for the budgetary tablets became one more tendency. So if last year tablets worth from 5 to 10 thousand rubles were in the greatest demand, already in the first quarter 2014 about 40% of all sold tablets are the share of the lower price range from 1,5 to 5 thousand rubles. We are sure that active saturation of our subscriber base date - the generating devices will allow MTS and farther to remain the leader of a segment of data transmission in the Far East region", – the director of Retail network MTS in regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia Evgenia Sysoyeva explained.

Following the results of 1 quarter 2014 the most sold in Retail network MTS in regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia became smartphones under a brand of MTS to which share 30,3% fell, in structure of sales of smartphones, on the second place of Samsung – from shares of 23,6%, on the third Nokia – 14,8%.
