The government of the Ulyanovsk region and the Cisco company signed the agreement of intent


The Cisco company became the partner of the government of the Ulyanovsk region in questions of formation of bases of information society and introduction of information and communication technologies in the region. On May 22, in the opening day of the eighteenth International economic forum in St. Petersburg, the governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Ivanovich Morozov and the managing director of the Cisco company in the Russia/the CIS Sergey Vladimirovich Chernovolenko signed the agreement of intent.

In the signed document questions of development of the concept of creation in the Ulyanovsk region of the digital and safe cities and development of local science and technology park in the sphere of high technologies became key (IT park). The Cisco company realizes projects in the field of the "clever" and connected communities (Smart+Connected Communities, S+CC) in many countries of the world, including Holland, India, Spain, Canada, Portugal, the USA, France and South Korea. Allow to improve ecological stability and to stimulate sustainable social and economic development the IT solutions which are cornerstone of infrastructure of such cities.

According to the studying of experience and the Cisco projects aimed at the development of highly intellectual society, the organization of effective systems of public administration, health care, public safety, and also economy and business concluded by the agreement the working group created by the government of the Ulyanovsk region and the Cisco company will be engaged.

The partnership of Cisco with the government of the Ulyanovsk region assumes also cooperation in education. The parties will develop the programs directed on IT education improvement of quality, increase in number of the qualified IT specialists and teachers of ICT disciplines.

The document provides also studying of possible options of financing of projects on modernization of infocommunication infrastructure of the Ulyanovsk region with use of financial products of JSC Sisko Capital SNG (division of Cisco Capital – the Cisco subsidiary specializing on rendering of services of financing for customers and partners of Cisco worldwide).

Pertinently to remind that in April, 2014 the similar agreement was concluded with the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Besides, last year the Cisco company signed the memorandum of understanding directed on further strengthening of strategic partnership in the field of development and introduction of information and communication technologies (CT) in the territory of the northern capital of the Russian Federation with the government of St. Petersburg and concluded the agreement of intent on cooperation in development of information and communication technologies with JSC Corporation of Development of the Kaliningrad Region.
